Carpet-making in India goes back as far as the Mughal emperors of the 16th and 17th centuries. Carpets were woven by Persian craftsmen who traveled to India at the invitation of the Mughal Emperor Akbar (1556-1605) in Agra. Classical rugs have been around since that time. During the 19th century, British merchants for the East India Company set up many more carpet factories in several Indian cities. The merchants specified designs that were in line with and adapted to Western taste, creating a synthesis of Persian and Indian motives. Motives, such as central medallions are clear evidence of Persian influence, while many other Indian designs were present all-over as well.

This collection comprises of carpets & rugs made on semi automatic machines on which the weaving is done by hand and the patterns or designs are woven by a machine. Made using Natural and Dyed Wool and Viscose these rugs have all the abilities of Hand Knotted rugs with limitations that it can’t be customised and only limited number of colours can be used at a time.
Paintings in Bamboo Silk and rich colour pigments, arranged on top of one another layer by layer on a canvas best describes this collection. Over the course of time the colours are eroded, scraped off, and wiped away. Time appears to be the artist behind these works, specific designs within the collection have been hand carved to impart special High-Low textural effects.
